Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets Delegation Led by Chair of Gender Equality and Family Committee of Korean National Assembly
Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has had a meeting with a delegation led by Chair of the Gender Equality and Family Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea In-suk Kwon. The relations between our countries and legislatures were talked over at the meeting.
The gratifying condition of the Azerbaijani-Korean relations, the active political dialogue, the fact that many areas are covered by the close economic co-operation and further growth prospects were all brought up as the conversation went on. They also stressed the solid relationship-boosting potential generated by high-level reciprocal visits, most importantly, those of the Heads of State.
Recalling her official visit to the Republic of Korea in November this year, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis fondly referred to the meetings held during it. Those meetings revolved round, amongst other things, the subject of broadening co-operation between the concerned committees of our legislative assemblies.
Then, they spoke of the special role that the friendship groups active in both parliaments played in broadening the linkage between our legislative bodies.
There was an exchange of opinions about gender matters. The Speaker of the Milli Majlis stressed that protection of women’s rights and enhancing their social and state administration profiles were very much in the focus in Azerbaijan. The emergence of the State Family, Women’s and Children’s Problems Committee and the establishment of the Milli Majlis Family, Women’s and Children’s Issues Committee marked a pivotal step taken to securing state-parliament co-operation in this topical area.
Gender matters, protection of women’s rights and making them more active socially are as paid as much attention to in Korea as they are in Azerbaijan, stressed Chair of the Gender Equality and Family Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea In-suk Kwon.
Having witnessed satisfaction with her visit to Azerbaijan, the Korean guest said she hoped that such trips would be intensified eventually. She mentioned the many similarities between our countries and nations before referring to the huge potential to boost the relations. Azerbaijan’s important role in the maintenance of energy security was touched on as well.
